Afghan Debate (AD) was recently founded to promote a free, objective and an all-encompassing debate about Afghanistan with a view to find practical and pragmatic solutions to the political, economic and social problems facing the country today.
We invite the Afghan educated class, the Afghan intelligentsia, both inside and outside Afghanistan, to participate in an active debate about the current political situation in Afghanistan. Issues must be examined critically, with an emphasis on finding solutions to our problems.
AD promotes "practical politics" in Afghanistan: We must become active agents of change in our country; our political expressions must be actionable; and a political party or a politician must be judged on the basis of performance only.
An important message behind the creation of this debate forum is to encourage the Afghan diaspora to take an active part in the rehabilitation of their country.
We strongly believe that Afghanistan deserves harmony, peace and progress. But unless Afghans show an initiative to take responsibility for their own future, and become important agents of change in their own country, true harmony, peace and progress will always remain a distant dream.
Afghanistan today desperately needs reforms, rather a Renaissance; a Renaissance initiated and driven by the Afghan civil society.
Let us begin a search for a new Afghan civil society together, and let us be important agents of change in Afghanistan today. For our country and our people deserve better.
